1. Who We Are
Amusement Standards LLC d/b/a AmusementRating.org ("Company," "we," "us," or "our") operates the AmusementRating.org platform ("Platform"). Our offices are located in Asbury Park, NJ 07712. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use the Platform.
2. Information We Collect
Information you provide directly:
- Account information: Username, email address, home park preference, and profile emoji selected during registration.
- Ride log data: Park name, ride name, timestamps, ride duration, and entrance/exit verification photos you submit.
- Audit data: Observation scores (1–5), pillar ratings, text notes, GPS coordinates (when voluntarily captured), and timestamps from completed audit checklists.
- Communications: Any messages you send us via email or through the Platform.
Information collected automatically:
- Device and browser data: IP address, browser type, operating system, device type, and screen resolution.
- Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent on pages, and interaction patterns.
- Cookies: We use essential cookies to maintain your login session (via ar_token and ar_username in localStorage). We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies.
Information we do NOT collect:
- We do not collect your real name, phone number, physical address, payment card details (unless purchasing merchandise), or social security number.
- We do not passively track your GPS location. Location data is only captured when you explicitly tap "Capture GPS" during an audit.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information for the following purposes:
- Platform operation: To create and maintain your account, display your profile, calculate XP, award badges, and populate leaderboards.
- Ride and audit verification: To verify the authenticity of ride logs and audit submissions using timestamps, GPS data, and photos.
- Aggregated analytics: To generate anonymized, aggregated facility-level ratings and scores displayed on the Platform. Individual user identities are never associated with public facility scores.
- Data feeds to affiliated products: Anonymized and aggregated data derived from Platform activity may be provided to the AS 360 risk intelligence platform operated by Amusement Standards LLC. This data includes facility-level pillar averages, audit completion rates, and trend data. Individual user identities, usernames, and email addresses are never shared with AS 360 or its clients.
- Contest administration: To determine leaderboard standings, verify winner eligibility, and fulfill prizes for Platform contests.
- Merchandise fulfillment: To process and ship merchandise orders, if applicable.
- Communication: To send you contest notifications, winner announcements, and critical Platform updates. We do not send marketing emails unless you opt in.
- Security and fraud prevention: To detect and prevent fraudulent submissions, multiple-account abuse, and platform manipulation.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only in the following limited circumstances:
- Public leaderboard: Your username, rank, XP total, badge count, and general activity statistics are visible on the public leaderboard. Your email address is never publicly displayed.
- Aggregated data to AS 360: Anonymized, aggregated facility data (not individual user data) is provided to our affiliated AS 360 platform as described in Section 3.
- Service providers: We use Airtable for data storage, Cloudflare for hosting and security, and may use third-party fulfillment partners for merchandise. These providers process data on our behalf and are contractually obligated to protect it.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others.
- Business transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of the transaction. We will notify you via email or prominent Platform notice before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information and activity data for as long as your account is active. If you request account deletion, we will delete your personal information (username, email, profile data) within thirty (30) days. Anonymized, aggregated data derived from your activity prior to deletion may be retained indefinitely as it cannot be linked back to you. Ride log photos are retained for verification purposes for up to twelve (12) months after submission, then automatically deleted.
6. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information, including HTTPS encryption for all data in transit, access controls on our Airtable databases, and Cloudflare's security infrastructure for DDoS protection and threat mitigation. However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your Rights and Choices
You have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You may request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: You may update your account information at any time through your profile page.
- Deletion: You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data by emailing contact@amusementrating.org.
- Data portability: You may request an export of your ride logs and audit data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-out: You may opt out of non-essential communications at any time by contacting us.
To exercise any of these rights, email contact@amusementrating.org. We will respond to verified requests within thirty (30) days.
8. Children's Privacy
The Platform is not directed at children under the age of thirteen (13). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at contact@amusementrating.org.
9. California Residents
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. As stated above, we do not sell personal information. To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at contact@amusementrating.org.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the email address on your account or by a prominent notice on the Platform at least fourteen (14) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the Platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
